Hand Russian — the rules of the single-deal rummy

Hand Russian (هاند روسي) is the single-deal manipulation rummy: two 52-card decks with no jokers, seven cards a seat, and one race. Your turn is a draw or a lay; once the opening go-around passes you build onto the table’s melds and rearrange them Rummikub-style to shed more. First to an empty hand wins — a dry stock falls to the fewest cards. This guide is the full rulebook.

What is the Hand Russian game?

Hand Russian is manipulation rummy in ONE deal: no jokers, no first-drop gate, no round scoring. You lay sets and runs from your very first turn, and after the opening go-around the whole table is yours to re-group — the manipulation is the game.

Hand Russian on Tonj — live

Hand Russian runs on Tonj’s own engine: tables of two to four (the host picks at create), bots that fill empty chairs and lay, build and rearrange the table just like any player, provably-fair deals, and spectating on any live table. How a match goes

  1. Draw or lay

On your turn take the stock’s top card — that ends the turn at once, nothing else may ride it — or lay down a set or a run of three or more cards from your hand.

  2. The go-around, then build & rearrange

Until the opening go-around completes nobody may touch the table’s melds. After it you may build (تركيب) your cards onto any meld and rearrange (تحريك) all the melds freely, provided every resulting meld stays valid.

  3. Shed to win

The first seat to empty its hand wins on the spot. If the stock runs dry first, a full go-around of passes ends the deal: fewest cards wins, a tie breaks to the lower pip total, still tied — a draw.

Hand Russian rules in detail

The setup

Two to four players, no partnerships. Two 52-card decks with no jokers — 104 cards, every card twice. Seven cards a seat; seat 0 opens the deal and turns pass counter-clockwise.

The turn: draw or lay

A turn is EITHER one draw from the stock (the turn ends immediately, nothing else rides it) OR one layout: a set (سر) of three or more same-rank cards in distinct suits, or a run of three or more consecutive same-suit cards — and once the opening go-around passes, building and rearranging ride that same layout. No minimum point threshold.

Melds: sets and runs

A set is one rank in distinct suits (3 or 4 cards — a repeated suit, even the second deck’s copy, is refused). A run is one suit in consecutive order with the ace LOW only: A-2-3 is a run, Q-K-A never is. The same card never rides a meld twice.

Build and rearrange

After the opening go-around you may build on any table meld and re-group the WHOLE table Rummikub-style — provided every resulting meld stays valid and you shed at least one card of your own with the proposal. A table card never returns to your hand — it only moves between melds. The full guide with worked examples: rearranging in Hand Russian.

The end: shed or stock-dry

Emptying your hand on a layout wins instantly. When the stock is dry a seat with no play may pass (one-card-group holders must lay first); a full go-around of passes ends the deal dead — fewest cards wins, a tie breaks to the lower pip total, still tied → a draw.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Hand Russian card game?

Hand Russian (هاند روسي) is a single-deal manipulation rummy: two decks without jokers, seven cards each, and a race to shed — draw or lay a set, then build on and rearrange the table’s melds until a hand empties.

Can I play Hand Russian online for free?

Yes — Hand Russian runs free on Tonj in the browser, Arabic and English, with public tables, pool play and spectating. Open the game page and press Play now.

What is the difference between Hand Russian and Hand?

Hand plays five scored rounds of classic rummy with jokers and a 51-point first drop. Hand Russian is ONE unscored deal with no jokers and no first-drop gate — and the table-rearranging manipulation Hand never allows.

How does rearranging the table work?

After the opening go-around you may re-group ALL the table’s melds however you like — split a run, move its cards into sets — as long as every meld you leave behind is valid, nothing vanishes from the table, no table card climbs back into a hand, and at least one card leaves yours. The bots rearrange too.

When can I pass?

Only when the stock is dry AND you hold no play the engine can see — no complete meld in hand and no single card that joins a table meld as-is. A full go-around of passes ends the deal.
